The Language of Death and Dying

What do the words eulogy, urn, cremation and obituary have in common? Life is naturally followed by death but it is often a taboo subject. As migrants we need to know the correct English words to talk about all aspects of death and how the funeral rituals are undertaken. In this lesson you will learn many common words and other euphemisms.

The second series from 2025 focuses on the employment experience of lived experts and was made with funding from the J R McKenzie Trust.
